CAN I REGISTER THE DAY OF THE RACE?
Yes. We do encourage you to register early and on-line. Then you will not have to wait so long. Registration costs increase  for individual participants from October 16, 2016. So we encourage you to register early.

DO YOU OFFER REFUNDS ON REGISTRATION?
No. — All entry fees are non-refundable.

WHAT IS THE MINIMUM AGE TO PARTICIPATE?
This is an all age race. We recommend children 16 and under be accompanied by an adult. All minors must have a parent or guardian to sign the entry form waver.

HOW CAN I CONFIRM IF I AM REGISTERED?
You should receive an email confirmation once you have completed your online registration. If you did not receive an email, check your spam folder, and if you still do not have an email confirmation please contact us at: info@my-sisters-house.org.

Fundraising/Donating for this Event

IS THERE A WAY TO COLLECT PLEDGES/DONATIONS THE OLD FASHION WAY . . . ON PAPER?
Yes. The 2nd page of the 2016 Run for a Safe Haven – Registration Form & Pledge Form can be used to collect Pledges. Checks can be made payable to “My Sister’s House”. Please mail in checks with your pledge form so they reach our office by 10/23/15 – if you’d like them to be counted as part of the competition for the biggest fundraiser.

HOW DO I COLLECT PLEDGES/ DONATIONS ON-LINE FOR THIS EVENT?
Visit our Pledges for My Sister’s House page for all the good details. And thank you for raising funds. Your efforts help our efforts to serve victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and human trafficking.   Remember deadline for our biggest individual fund raiser for donations/pledged received in our office and on-line is Noon on Friday October, 21 2016.

IS IT MANDATORY TO FUNDRAISE IN ORDER TO REGISTER FOR THE RUN?
Not at all. We encourage it, so that we can continue to provide much needed services for women and children that seek services from us. We really don’t like it when we have to turn people away for services. We rely on grants, corporate sponsors of our programs and fundraisers, and the generosity of private citizens who donate.

Packet Pick-Up

WILL THERE BE AN ADVANCE PACKET PICK-UP?
Yes. Our Packet Pick Up will be held WHEN: Time:  10:00 AM – 6:00 PM, on Friday October 21, 2016 WHERE: Fleet Feet. Located at 2311 J Street, Sacramento, CA. You may also pick up your packets the day of the race at the Registration Tent.

CAN I PICK UP MY RACE PACKET THE DAY OF THE RACE?
Yes. –We encourage participants to pick up the packets at the pick-up event to avoid the lines on race day. However, we will be glad to see you either day.

CAN I REGISTER AND GET MY RACE PACKET ONSITE AT THE PACKET PICK-UP?
Oooh how sneaky!! Yes.  Of course you can. We encourage it to avoid long lines on race day. Just make sure you have a credit card and ID so we can register you.

The Race

IS THE RACE TIMED?
Yes.  Capital Road Race manages the Timing for our event. And they have the organization down to a fine science. You will obtain a BIB Number when you pick up your packet either at packet pick up or on the day of the race, and this has the option for timing.

ARE JOGGING STROLLERS ALLOWED?
Yes! — Any type of Stroller is allowed during this 5K event! There is no fee for cute babies, only the ugly ones.   …  you know there is no such thing as an ugly baby … well that’s our story and we’re sticking to it :D.

CAN I WALK THE COURSE?
Yes! — Participants can walk the course. We expect to have several hundred walking participants. We ask that you let the runners be at the front of the starting line.

ARE DOGS ALLOWED AT THE RACE?
You mean you were thinking of not bringing Lucky & Fido?!  Yes you can bring your dogs.  They  must be leashed and well behaved with people and other dogs. Please remember to clean up your four-legged friends at the event.

WILL I GET A T-SHIRT?
We guarantee a T-shirt to the first 1000 people to get their packets for our Race.  (Includes Packet Pick-Up and Race Day).  We will have unisex T-shirts that  are 100% Polyester Purple wicking shirts (those cool shirts that wick away moisture). Purple is the color associated with the cause of Domestic Violence.

WILL ATHLETE REFRESHMENTS BE AVAILABLE AFTER THE RACE?
Yes. – Fruit, water and other snacks are available at the finish line.

ARE THERE AWARDS?
Awards will be presented to the overall male/female winner and the top male and female runners in each age category. There will also be recognitions for the biggest team, biggest fundraiser, and the best costume, and best dressed dog. All kids in the ½ mile race will get special awards as well.

HOW IS THE COURSE MARKED ALONG THE ROUTES? ARE THERE VOLUNTEERS THAT HELP POINT THE WAY OR OFFER ASSISTANCE IF NEEDED?
Yes. — The course is clearly marked, and there are volunteers throughout the route, who are directing runners/walkers. They are there to look after your well being and cheer you on. (You can cheer them on too :D)

WILL THERE BE WATER ALONG THE COURSE?
Yes. — There will be a water station around the 1½ mile mark.

HOW DOES THE RACE START?
Announcements will be made at the event directing people to line up for the race. The starting line is near the Village Green Area of William Land Park (corner of Sutterville Rd and Freeport Blvd). We will have a balloon arch, music, and some of the coolest people in Sacramento.

Teams

IS THIS AN INDIVIDUAL OR TEAM RACE?
Both. We welcome people to come individually or as part of a team. See Team Registration page for details on how to set up your team discount coupon.

IS THERE A MINIMUM NUMBER OF PEOPLE THAT MAKE UP A TEAM?
Yes. A minimum of 10 people make up a team. The discounted rate is for an individual is $30.  (Team members 11-infinity pay $30 per person too).

Kids Programs

IS THERE A KIDS RACE? WHAT AGES?
Yes. — We have a kids 1/2 mile race for kids 12 and under. All race participants will get awards. These children are welcome to accompany their parents/guardians on the 5K too.

DO I NEED TO REGISTER MY CHILD FOR THE KIDS ½ MILE RACE AND THE 5K?
You can register your child for the ½ mile race, and after they compete they can accompany you on the 5K. If your child wants to be timed in the 5K or wants to participate only on the 5K then they would only register for only the 5K event.

IS THERE A KIDS AREA?
Yes — There will be an area for kids to have access to paper, coloring, arts and crafts.
